Doggy Dip Day

The Santa Monica Swim Center is hosting its first Doggy Dip Day on Sunday, December 18th! Santa Monica residents are invited to bring their friendly dogs for a swim in the
 Splash Pool.

 

 

Time
Dogs over 30 pounds can swim from noon to 2:00pm

Dogs 30 pounds or less can swim from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
Note: Lap Swim is available in the Splash Pool from 8:00am - 11:00am.
Recreation Swim will not be available all day in the Splash Pool and
 Swim Test will not be offered all day

 Fee
$3.25 per adult owner/dog, $1.25 per youth (12 to 17 years),$1.50 for Senior/Student /dog. One dog per owner please.

No preregistration required but a waiver must be completed and signed before entering the facility. Click here for waiver.

Proof of Residency

This event is for Santa Monica residents only. Residents must provide proof of residency along with a valid Santa Monica dog license to attend the event. Proof of residency includes a valid photo ID with a Santa Monica address. For information on licensing your dog, visit www.smgov.net/dogs or call 310.458.8594

 

Santa Monica Animal control will be on site to ensure safety and answer questions. For everyone’s enjoyment and safety, please review a complete list of rules for the event.

Doggy Dip Day Rules and Regulations

 

 
1.

Santa Monica Doggy Dip Day is open only to people and dog friendly dogs. Please use your best judgment regarding your dog’s demeanor.

2.

Each dog must be accompanied by a responsible person at least 12 years of age or older.

3.

Ensure a safe and enjoyable off-leash experience for all users by taking responsibility for your dog's actions (SMMC 4.04.370 & 4.04.380). If you are unable to properly supervise or control your dog, you will be asked to leave. Owners are responsible for the behavior of their dog as well as their own behavior. Please act responsibly!

4.

Your dog must be leashed when traveling to and from off-leash areas, with a leash six feet or less in fixed length. (SMMC 4.04.155). Dogs may only be off leash when entering/exiting the pool or while swimming. Please keep your dog leashed at all other times.

5.

Dogs must have a valid Santa Monica dog license to participate in this event (SMMC 4.04.300). Owners must also provide proof of Santa Monica residency.

6.

Dog waste must be kept to the North-East grass area. Please notify staff of any waste that did not make it to the grass area.

7.

You must visibly carry clean up materials and use them to clean up after your dog. (SMMC 4.04.370, 4.04.380, 4.04.385 & Resolution 10244). Some clean up materials will be available in the north east area of the splash pool, by the grass area.

8.

Please enjoy your refreshments only outside of the Doggy Dip Day event area. No dog or human food allowed in off leash areas. (SMMC 4.04.390)

9.

Do not bring your dog to the event if it is in heat. (SMMC 4.04.390)

10.

Dogs are not allowed in the locker rooms or on the sun deck during the event. Please keep your dog in the splash pool area.

11.

Human participants are not allowed in the pool during the event. In the event that a dog needs to be rescued, the lifeguards on duty will perform the rescue.

12.

Do not bring dogs that have health conditions that may endanger themselves or others.

13.

Please be sure your dog has been exposed to swimming. Some dogs swim well, others do not. If not, they may become afraid or aggressive.

14.

For safety reasons, decisions made by animal control or pool staff must be abided by at all times. Failure to follow the rules will result in removal from the event.
