The Santa Monica Swim Center – including
lockers, showers, viewing decks, and both
pools – is fully accessible to swimmers with
disabilities. Each pool is equipped with a
hydraulic lift for those who cannot use the
steps or the ladder. When you enter the Swim
Center, please let the staff know that you
will be using the lift and they will arrange
for it to be available to you. The lifts are
easy to operate, and the Swim Center staff
will be happy to show you how. The staff is
not available to assist you with transfer to
the pool lift, but an attendant is welcome.
Swimming lessons, water aerobics, and adult
fitness swim classes are open to everyone
who can participate with a reasonable
accommodation. During lap swimming sessions,
the pool is marked off into lanes for slow,
medium paced and fast swimmers.
The Swim Center provides accessible parking
for people with disabilities, including
van-accessible spots, in Santa Monica
College (SMC) Parking Structure C. There is
additional accessible parking in SMC Parking
Structure A, and there is a loading zone in
front of the Swim Center where passengers
can be dropped off.
If you need a disability-related
accommodation, please call the Swim Center
at 310/458-8700 or TTY 310/458-8696. All
Swim Center materials are available in
alternate format upon request. The City of
Santa Monica does not discriminate on the
basis of disability in access to service or
programs. Please call the City’s ADA
Coordinator at 310/458-8701 or 310/458-8696
if you have a disability-related concern
about access to City facilities, services,
or programs.
