Annual Maintenance Closure
The Santa Monica Swim
Center will be closed beginning Monday, December 8, 2014 and will reopen on
Monday January 12, 2015. We have scheduled this closure to complete repairs
and make improvements to the facility. Here are some of the items to be
completed during the closure:
- Clean out the
surface gutters on both pool decks
- Pressure wash pool
deck drain lines
- Replace/repair tiles
around both pools
- Perform annual
maintenance on pool boilers
- Water proof seal
muriatic acid and chlorine tank pits (floor and
- Replace sand media
in all three filters of the Splash pool
- Seal the area where
the tile and the drains come together in the
public locker room showers due to deterioration
- Annual preventative
maintenance on all pool equipment
This is in addition to
Custodial Services thorough cleaning of the facility.

New Weekend Hours
Its that time of year when we start closing earlier on the weekends.
Beginning Saturday, November 8 our hours are 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and
Sunday, November 9 our hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Happy swimming!

begin on Wednesday November 12th at 6 a.m. Registration will be
online only from November 12th through November 18th.
Non-Resident registration begins November 19th.

Groups or individuals desiring to provide coaching
or instruction at the Santa Monica Swim Center must
obtain a permit. Private instruction (one-on-one) is
not permissible. Permit guidelines and applications

A swimmer in the water at the wall
the majority of the time and sending off another
swimmer and giving corrective feedback on swimming
~ A swimmer is intently focused on the swimming

~ Detailed and technical descriptions of activities
are given prior to a swimmer performing a skill, as
well as corrective feedback delivered after the
skill is completed.
~ Spending more than 5 minutes drilling a swimmer in
the same skill with little or no play or lap
swimming involved, and using multiple teaching
techniques and methods.
