Business - Pier Access Improvement Project

More than three million people visit the Santa Monica Pier each year, and most arrive by foot, vehicle or bicycle using the 25-foot wide bridge that extends west from Ocean Avenue at Colorado. Before designing a stronger and wider bridge to better accommodate the crowds, the City of Santa Monica wants to hear from Pier lovers how such an improvement project can best address visitor and community needs. While wider sidewalks, a bike lane, a trolley and the addition of a ramp that connects the Pier to the beach parking lot below are among the options being considered, realistically, there isn't the room or the money to do them all--so we want your help in deciding which makes the most sense for Santa Monica.
