Notice is hereby given that a Regular Meeting of the Santa Monica Commission on the Status of Women will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 beginning at 7:00 PM, to discuss the following business:

2.               Installation and swearing of new commissioners

 

 

3.               Inspiration – women’s history

5.               Approval of Minutes from October 17, 2002

 

 

 

6.               Public Input 

         The Commission will hear from the public on issues pertaining to the agenda as well as other topics of concern related to the Commission.

 

 

 

7.               Announcements and Correspondence

 

Presentation by Nancy Solomon (or another representative), California Women's Law Center, about their efforts to support breastfeeding women in Santa Monica Place and other public places.  Also, an update about their teen pregnancy programs.  Discussion and possible action.

 

 

 

 

8.               Committee/Liaison Reports

 

A.              Report on the Child Care Task Force – Comm. Cook

 

 

B.              Report on the ACCW – Commissioner Hayes-Raitt

 

 

C.              Report on the Domestic Violence Network-Commissioner Sahagún

 

 

 

9.  Old Business

 

A.           Continued planning, discussion and possible action on the demographic report on the status of women in Santa Monica.

 

 

 

B.           Continued planning, discussion and possible action on the work life survey of Santa Monica employers.

 

 

 

C.           Discussion and possible action related to approving the COSW Mission Statement.

 

 

 

 

D.           Report and possible action related to the Domestic Violence Brochure.

 

 

 

 

E.           Continued discussion and possible action regarding the COSW’s participation in City Community Voices Human Services Planning Project and Community Profile Update.

 

 


 

 

 

10.     New Business

 

A.              Discussion and possible action regarding the new COSW’s orientation and recognition for departing commissioners.

 

 

 

B.              Discussion and possible action regarding the formation of a committee to meet regularly with City Council members to discuss issues of interest to the COSW.
