Diavolo
The Broad Stage
Friday and Saturday
On Friday and Saturday,
Diavolo comes to the
Broad Stage with their incredibly
powerful, abstract, almost cinematic physical narratives
of the human condition under the visionary guidance of
founder
Jacques Heim. With outrageous and
surreal sets intrinsic to each work, the dancers,
gymnasts and actors take control of stage for a
high-impact experience. Program includes:
Foreign Bodies,
Tete En L’Air,
Territory,
Trajectiore.
This company never fails to astound
audiences and if you’ve got a little boy in your life
who thinks dancing is for sissies, bring him along! He’ll
see athletic skills on display that could only be
matched with the greatest of the Olympians and he might
end up a lifelong dance fan. For more information, call
the box office at 310-434-3200 or
visit the Broad website. |

Cindy Kolodziejski: Secret(ions)
Frank Lloyd Gallery
Opening Saturday
Cindy Kolodziejski
explores the fertile territory of human sensuality
through vessels that recombine and manipulate antique
urinal forms. Not to leave out other areas of excretion,
the bed pan also makes an appearance in her current body
of work.
Kolodziejski starts with these unusual
antiques and adds layers of imagery and metaphor. There
are mixed references to the water world throughout –
including octopus tentacles, frogs, swans and bubbles,
and glimpses of couples engaged in sexual activity. The
exhibition opens on Saturday evening and runs through
March 29. |

One final note - Harvelle's (one of the true gems of Santa
Monica) has recently begun their own weekly newsletter listing
the musicians performing each weekend. Unfortunately, it
generally comes out to late for me to include their concerts in
the Palette. But if you're a blues fan, (and who isn't?)
check out their website and sign up for the newsletter.
Or become their friend on MySpace!
So, have a great weekend everybody! See you out there!
