Exploring Creative Santa Monica
|
March 19, 2009 |

I'm so glad it's getting warm - we were
on the Pier last weekend and I was
freezing! This weekend I'll be back
there to check out a new photo exhibit
in the Carousel Building and I'm hoping
for weather warm enough that we can at
least wade along the shore. I'll also be
taking the kids to see two terrific
plays opening up this weekend and then
checking out a terrific photo exhibition
filled with lots of California Beach
boys and girls. The
Aero has a
whole weekend of
Kurosawa
films and the
Santa Monica Playhouse
presents five new one-act plays. It's a
good weekend for us here in Santa
Monica!
Steppin Out
is happening this weekend at the
Miles Playhouse.
I'm really looking forward to the Luau
on Sunday but that sock hop on Saturday
night is also tempting! Too bad I can't
go to the Downbeat dance on Friday
night, it's teens only and I'm just a
couple of years too old for it.
And don't forget to mark the date for
the
Santa Monica Airport Art Walk!
I hope
we'll see
everyone out at the Airport on
Saturday, March 28 from 1 to 5 pm.
You'll be amazed at the talent you'll
see in the studios of over 3 dozen
artists!

Children Will Listen |

Into the Woods, Jr.
Lincoln Middle School
Friday, Saturday at 7:00 pm
Sunday at 2:00 pm
The Broadway version of
Into the Woods
might be considered a bit dark
for elementary school but
Sondheim
and company have created a
special version just for kids.
It still explores the morals and
behaviors in some of society’s
favorite fairy tales such as
Jack’s thievery and the
deception used by the Baker and
his wife in trading the three
magic beans for the cow not to
mention the emotional
impact of Rapunzel’s being
locked in a tower for all those
years and Cinderella’s fantasy
that marriage to the prince is
going to make her life complete.
I’ll be there on Saturday with
my surrogate grandkids and I
hope to see you there! And
always remember - Wishes come
true, not free.
