The Santa Monica Arts Commission and the Cultural Affairs Division wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving this weekend!  We also want to make sure you know that on Saturday, when that turkey is looking kind of bleak, there are some great things to do that will be much more fun, not to mention fulfilling, than fighting the crowds at Target!  So, enjoy your turkey and then go have some art for dessert!

A new play comes to the City's own Miles Playhouse this weekend. A tiny ramshackle group of performers, the Three Wise Babes, gives in to the pressure all theater companies feel at the holiday season and agree to stage Charles Dickens' classic, A Christmas Carol. The problem is they only have a vague recollection of what is all about. There was the kid, Tiny Tom, right? And something about his dad's boss? But with the eternal optimism common to all in the theater they hold auditions on opening night, ending with a cast composed of a tap dancer, a singer-physicist, "Screamin' Stephen J. Hawkings" along with as his saucy nurse, and, with a nod to the season, an Angel. Miz Jones will play one of the three "wise babes" along with LA faves, Molly Bryant and Martha Gehman, plus the iconic John Fleck and Lee Kissman, and Ali Tobia, Eric B. Anthony and Andrew Wheeler, all ably directed by Tony Abatamarco. Visit the website for ticket information and performance schedules.
