This weekend in Santa Monica we’ve got fantastic family fare absolutely everywhere!  In this issue of the Palette, we’re taking the kids out and having a blast!. There are plays, festivals and concerts each of which is a perfect family outing.  So, give the babysitter the weekend off, or borrow a couple of kids from some parents who desperately need a break and let’s go have some fun!

ReDiscover will hold art workshops this Sunday at the Unity Resource Fair

And one more thing for the grownups in the room!  Walking down Fourth Street I just noticed that The Sharks, featuring Dennis Quaid will be playing Harvelles on Friday night.  Their website is never up-to-date but give them a call at 310/395.1676 for details.

Tonight’s Santa Monica Playhouse production explores issues that affect both sides of the Atlantic in both English and Japanese.  See the American Cultural Youth Ambassadors before they take the show to Japan this spring and stick around afterward forrefreshments and a chance to meet the cast.

I mean what I say and I say what I mean when I tell you to visit the Santa Monica Main Library on Saturday for an all day long Seuss-tacular Seuss-A-Bration.  The day will include crafts, face-painting, movies, readings, pictures with the Cat in the Hat himself, refreshments, and tons more. Recommended for ages 4 and up. Check it out at  http://www.smplkids.org/program_calendar/kids_cal.pdf Just keep an eye out for the Lorax!

The Santa Monica Symphony will present a program featuring Brahms’ Symphony Number 4 and Dvorak’s Czech Suite Sunday afternoon in the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.  These free concerts are a much-loved community tradition.  Remember, the love of classical music starts when we're still young and this is one concert where you can definitely afford to bring the kids!

Fafalo is a fairy tale about a most unlikely candidate who is crowned king in the mythical kingdom of Galliandra. Using colorful Balinese masks and huge, spectacular puppets to conjure up the excitement and comedy of the circus, Ziggurat Theatre Ensemble  creates a vibrant, topsy-turvy world that's as astonishing as it is hilarious. Fafalo is a perfect play for adults and kids over the age of 8.

As the good Doctor Seuss once said, "Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.”  Have a terrific weekend, everyone!

And don't forget The Second Annual Santa Monica Airport Artwalk is right around the corner.  On Saturday, March 29, join us for a walk along Airport Avenue and discover some of the amazing work being created while planes zoom overhead!
