Exploring Creative Santa Monica

I hope you haven't missed us too much for the last two weeks- the Palette got hit with one of those nasty flu bugs running about and was down for the count.  But we're back this week with an assortment of happenings that will knock your socks off!  This is truly an amazing weekend with so many great treats - there's music, theatre, film, outdoor festivities - something for everyone.  Take a look and you'll see what I mean!

Apparition of the Eternal Church

Laemmle Monica 4-Plex and
First Presbyterian Church of Santa Monica
1322 & 1220 Second Street (Between Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards)

Jacaranda bills itself as "Music at the edge of Santa Monica" and they are definitely on the razor's edge this weekend when they present the LA premiere of Paul Festa's Apparition of the Eternal Church , a documentary film capturing the explosive responses of 31 mostly nonreligious artists to the apocalyptic music of the Christian visionary Olivier Messiaen. The New Yorker calls the film "mesmerizing," while the Village Voice refers to it as "head-spinning...a bravura performance not to be missed." LA's first ever live performance of Fantaisei will follow the film along with a discussion with the film maker and other musicians. After watching the trailer and reading the reviews, all I can say is this is going to be an unforgettable experience.
