BY ADDING A SECTION REQUIRING OWNERS' CONSENT FOR DESIGNATION OF PROPERTIES IN THE SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL (R-1) DISTRICT AS LANDMARKS OR STRUCTURES OF MERIT AND FOR INCLUSION OF PARCELS IN THE R-1 DISTRICT WITHIN HISTORIC DISTRICTS |

This measure would amend the City's Landmarks and Historic Districts Ordinance by requiring the consent of property owners before structures in the Single Family Residential District (R1) could be designated as Landmarks or Structures of Merit. Owners' consent would also be required before parcels in the R1 district could be designated as Landmark Parcels or included within an Historic District. The requirement of owners' consent would apply to designations made after January 1, 2002. The measure would require that owners' consent be recorded and would make the consent binding on subsequent owners.
