The Planning Commission shall have the power and be required to: |
|
(a) After a public hearing thereon, recommend to the City Council the adoption, amendment or repeal |
|
of the Master Plan, or any part thereof, for the physical development of the City; |
|
(b) Exercise such control over land subdivisions as is granted to it by the governing body of the City |
|
and by the laws of the State of California; |
|
(c) Make recommendations concerning proposed public works and for the clearance and rebuilding of |
|
blighted or substandard areas within the City; and |
|
(d) Exercise such functions with respect to zoning as may be prescribed by ordinance. |
|
The Planning Commission consists of seven Santa Monica residents, none of whom shall hold any paid |
|
office or employment in the City Government, and shall serve four-year terms. (SMCC 1007) |
|
Pursuant to Section 2.32.280 of the SMMC - no Santa Monica City employee may serve as a member of |
|
any Board or Commission. |
|
IV. Compensation for Planning Commissioners (Municipal Code Section 2.32.270) |
|
(A) Members of the Planning Commission will be compensated in the amount of twenty-five dollars per |
|
meeting attended, to a maximum of one hundred dollars per month. Such compensation shall be |
|
deemed reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenditures and costs imposed upon members in serving |
|
on the Planning Commission. |
|
(B) Beginning twelve months after the date of the adoption of this Section, and once yearly thereafter, |
|
the amount of compensation for Planning Commissioners shall be increased by an amount equal |
|
to the increase in the Consumer Price Index for the prior twelve-month period. As used in this |
|
Section, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) shall be the CPI for All Urban Consumers for the Los |
|
Angeles, |
|
Long Beach, Anaheim Metropolitan Area provided by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, |
|
unless another comparable index is determined to be appropriate by resolution of the City Council. |
