Subject:  Resolution Authorizing Execution of a Grant of Easement
          to the Southern California Edison Company

Introduction:

This report requests the adoption of the attached Resolution
authorizing the City Manager to execute a Grant of Easement ot the
Southern California Ediosn Company for the installation and
maintenance of underground electrical supply system at 1123-1131
3rd Street Santa Monica, California 

On may 13, l986 the City Council approve the development team  to
develop at two story parking garage and construct 72 federally
subsidized senior housing units at 1121-1135 Third Stree.  On
December 7, l990 HUD approved a final funding commitiment for the
project and in February 1991 the project began construction.  

The parking component of the project is now completed and Southern
Californ Edison requires  an easement to the underground electrical
vault that is below the parking structure.  In order for Edison to
complete the construction reuqired for the underground vault, the
City must greant an easement to Edison.  Attached is the Grant of
Easement including a legal description, a Resolution authorizing
the execution of the Grant of Easement, and Drawing No.    on file
in the Office of the City Engineer                                
                                                             
Budget Impact

There is not budget/financial impact.

Recommendation

It is recommennded tha the attached reoldution be adopted
authorizing the City Manager to execute a Grant of Easement to the
Southern California kEdison Company.
