Introduction
This report requests that City Council approve an additional $24,500.00 for
street resurfacing, curb and gutter construction on Montana Avenue, Fourth
Street and California Avenue as part of the 1990-91 Street Resurfacing
Program.
Background
Each Fiscal Year, the City Council authorizes a City-wide Street Resurfacing
program which includes street resurfacing, slurry sealing, curb, gutter and
sidewalk construction. The 1990-91 Street Resurfacing contract was awarded on
May 14, 1991 by the City Council, to Hillcrest Contracting, Inc., the lowest
responsible bidder.
During this construction, additional unanticipated work was done in areas on
Montana Avenue, Fourth Street and California Avenue. These improvements
included the reconstruction of sidewalks uplifted by tree roots on Montana
Avenue, and the reconstruction of curb medians on Fourth Street and California
Avenue. The additional work on these three streets resulted in a contingency
short fall when the work was completed. Funds are available in the annual
street resurfacing program account.
