in Parkway Areas on Various Streets (SR-92-182)

Introduction

This report requests that the City Council set a public hearing
for July 14, 1992, to hear protests regarding the work and
confirm the assessments of the cost to repair damaged sidewalks,
driveways, curbs and the removal of damaged pavement in parkway
areas on various streets.

Background

On October 9, 1979, the City Council approved a sidewalk repair
program which provided for property owner participation in the
cost of repairing damaged sidewalks. Residential property owner
participation is 50% of the cost of the repairs if the damage is
related to tree roots; the City pays the remaining 50% of the
repair cost. Property owners are assessed 100% of the cost if
the damage is not related to tree roots and commercial property
owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the cause of
the damage.

Certain repair work has been completed at the following addresses
and the property owners' share of the cost is now due for the
following properties: 924 Pier Avenue, 1204 Ozone Avenue, 2257
28th Street, 2025 Lincoln Boulevard, 1220 San Vicente Boulevard,
241 24th Street, 247 24th Street, 1459 Sixth Street, 2909 Arizona
Avenue, 2232 Sixth Street, 910 Franklin Street, 3325 17th Street,
3213 17th Street, 1128 20th Street, 1555 Centinela Avenue.

A hearing must be held pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 22,
Sections 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and Highways Code of the
State of California. A Resolution setting the public hearing for
July 14, 1992, is attached.

Budget/Financial Impact

The financial analysis, which will indicate total revenues to be
derived from this assessment district over the next two years,
will be presented to City Council at the time of public hearing.
