SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Provide Brake Service
and Supplies for Passenger Cars and Light or Heavy
Trucks, Bid #2421
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to provide brake service and
supplies for passenger cars and light or heavy trucks for the
Fleet Management Division, General Services Department, at
specified manufacturer discounts and hourly labor rate, plus
applicable sales tax, and two one-year renewal options.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published June 15
and 16, 1992) to provide brake service and supplies for passenger
cars and light or heavy trucks in accordance with City
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on June 29, 1992. Proposal forms were mailed to four vendors and
notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and
Municipal Code provisions. Two proposals were received as
follows:

4. Hourly Labor Rate (Repairs) $40.00 $50.00
B. Supplies for Heavy Truck:
1. Air Diaphram Brake Chambers 25%-40% No Bid
2. Exchange Relined Brake Shoes 30%-50% No Bid
3. Wheel Seals 25%-40% No Bid
4. Hourly Labor Rate (Repairs) $40.00 No Bid
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
Budget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1992/93 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Fleet Management Division, General Services Department,
account number 01-500-461-00000-2292-00000.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2421 be made to Delmer's
Precision Brake Shop at specified manufacturer discounts and
hourly labor rate, plus applicable sales tax, and two one-year
renewal options, as the lowest and best bidder.
