SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Provide Labor to Repair
Damaged Transit Coaches, Bid #2494
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to provide labor to repair
damaged transit coaches for the Transportation Department, at
specified hourly rate..
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published May 24
and 25, 1994) to provide labor to repair damaged transit coaches in
accordance with City specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on June 9, 1994. Proposal forms were
mailed to three vendors and notices were advertised in accordance
with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two proposals
were received as follows:
VENDOR HOURLY RATE
Smith & Hartford Custom Coach $25.00
Complete Coach Works $26.40
The GMC and MCI Classic Buses require repair to rusted and damaged
areas to prevent further deterioration to these buses.
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
Budget/Financial Impact
Appropriation authority for this purchase is in the Capital
Improvement Program budget, account number 41-750-657-20094-8900-
99106, Bus Component Replacement Program.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2494 be made to Smith &
Hartford Custom Coach at specified hourly rate, as the lowest and
best bidder.
