SUBJECT:  Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
          Miscellaneous Trash Bin Parts, Bid #2542

Introduction

This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver
miscellaneous trash bin parts for the Solid Waste Management
Division, Environmental and Public Works Management Department,
at specified unit prices, plus applicable tax.

Background

In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published May 25
and 26, 1995) to furnish and deliver miscellaneous trash bin
parts in accordance with City specifications, bids were received
and publicly opened and read on June 12, 1995. Proposal forms
were mailed to two vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions.  Two
proposals were received as follows:

The City currently has approximately 4,000 metal refuse
containers in circulation.  These miscellaneous trash bin parts
will be used on an on-going basis to repair/refurbish those
containers which are repairable. 

Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications. 
 
Budget/Financial Impact

Fiscal Year 1995-96 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Solid Waste Division,  Environmental and Public Works
Management Department, account number 27-500-441-00000-4427-
00000.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the award of Bid #2542 be made to
Consolidated Fabricators Corp. at specified unit prices plus
applicable tax, as the lowest responsible bidder.
