       Meeting.

6-B:   Resolution declaring the continuing existence of a local
       emergency (January 1994 Earthquake Damage).

6-C:   Ordinance for second reading and adoption amending
       section 9.04.10.16.010 of the Santa Monica Municipal
       Code to allow the demolition of earthquake damaged red
       and yellow tagged buildings without a replacement
       project permit.  Introduced September 24, 1996.

       exceed $1,300,874 for construction improvements relative

6-H:   Award of contract to National Plant Services, Inc., in
       an amount not to exceed $164,275 for television video
       inspections and cleaning of sewer mains 6" to 12" in

6-I:   Recommendation to reject bids to furnish and deliver 1
       new 80,000 pound gross carrying weight (GCW) tandem
       drive truck tractor, and to direct staff to continue to
       research open market for possible competitive bids.

6-J:   Recommendation to authorize the City Manager to
       negotiate and execute a professional services contract
       with Meyer, Mohaddes Associates, in an amount not to
       exceed $53,700, for consulting services to prepare an
       analysis of ocean front vehicle circulation to evaluate
       circulation and parking issues resulting from peak usage
       and special events.

       unit prices, to rebuild differential assemblies and

       amount not to exceed $30,870.73, to furnish and deliver

6-N:   Award of Bid No. 2563 to Ackerman Emergency Equipment
       Company, in the amount of 86,425.33 to furnish and
       deliver one new and unused 1996 Type III, slant side
       modular ambulance mounted on a new and unused 1996 Ford
       cut-away 10,000 GVW Chassis.

7-A:   Appeal 96-004 of Planning Commission Approval of
       Conditional Use Permit Application 95-017 to allow the
       late-night operation of the drive-up window in the Jack-in-the-Box restaurant located at 2025 Lincoln Boulevard
       until May 1, 1998.  Public Hearing Held.  Continued from
       September 24,1996.  Discussion of proposed settlement
       offer.

       ACTION: Continued to October 22, 1996.

7-B:   Appeal 95-016 of Planning Commission Approval of
       Conditional Use Permit Application 95-016 and Variance
       Application 95-033 to allow the late-night operation of
       the drive-up window in the Jack-in-the-Box restaurant at
       2423 Wilshire Boulevard until May 1, 1998.  Public
       Hearing Held.  Continued from Sept ember 24, 1996. 
       Discussion of proposed settlement offer.

       ACTION: Continued to October 22, 1996.

8.  ORDINANCES:  (Public discussion permitted on emergency
ordinances and ordinances for introduction and first reading. 
No public discussion is permitted on ordinances for second
reading and adoption.)

8-A:   Interim Ordinance of the City Council of the City of
       Santa Monica for introduction and first reading
       prohibiting second dwelling units in the R-1 and OP-1
       Zoning Districts subject to limited exceptions,
       clarifying the allowance of second units in Multi-Family
       Residential Districts and specifying standards for
       second units.
       Staff Report

       ACTION: Introduced Ordinance, as amended.  Second
               reading on October 15, 1996.

8-B:   Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Santa
       Monica for introduction and first reading adding Chapter
       3.26 to the Municipal Code Prohibiting the sale of
       certain handguns commonly known as "Saturday Night
       Specials."

       October 15, 1996.
