ADJOURNED COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 1998 - 6:30 P.M.

An adjourned meeting of the Santa Monica City Council was called to order by Mayor Holbrook at 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 1998, in the Council Chambers.

Mayor Holbrook convened the meeting at 6:40 p.m., and led the assemblage in the pledge of allegiance.

8-A: Interim Ordinance for second dwelling units in the R1 And OP1 Districts - second reading and adoption of interim ordinance allowing second dwelling units in the R1 and OP1 Zoning Districts under specified circumstances clarifying the allowance of second units in multi-family residential districts and specifying standards for second units, and supplemental report. (Introduced May 26, 1998.) Staff Report

Motion by Mayor Holbrook, seconded by Councilmember Ebner, to amend and re-introduce and hold first reading of an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ALLOWING SECOND DWELLING UNITS IN THE R1 AND OP1 ZONING DISTRICTS UNDER SPECIFIED CIRCUMSTANCES CLARIFYING THE ALLOWANCE OF SECOND UNITS IN MULTI-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS AND SPECIFYING STANDARDS FOR SECOND UNITS," reading by title only and waiving further reading thereof, amended so that the section relating to "hardship" be deleted, and directing staff to report in six months, and periodically thereafter, with an evaluation. The motion was approved by the following vote:

Ayes: Councilmembers Ebner, Greenberg, Genser, Mayor Holbrook

Noes: Councilmembers Rosenstein, Feinstein, Mayor Pro Tem O'Connor.

On order of the Mayor, the City Council recessed at 9:20 p.m. and reconvened at 9:40 p.m., with all members present to continue staff presentations for the following Department:

City Council recessed at 11:10 p.m., and reconvened Wednesday, June 3, 1998, at 6:20 p.m., for the following staff presentations:

Resource Management

Library

Transportation Department

Environmental & Public Works Management

Non-Departmental

On order of the Mayor, the information presented was received and filed.
