SUBJECT: Recommendation to Reject Bid to Furnish and Deliver Miscellaneous Bus Taillights, Bid #2742

Introduction

This report recommends rejection of bid to furnish and deliver miscellaneous bus taillights for the Transportation Department.

Background

In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published December 7 and 8, 1998) in accordance with City specifications, proposal forms were mailed to three vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. One proposal was received and not read.

Two of the "no bid" vendors have contacted staff and stated they can now provide the product. Staff has located an additional source. Rebidding the requirement will aid in the receipt of additional competitive bids.

Budget/Financial Impact

This recommendation does not have a budget or financial impact.

Recommendation

It is recommended that Council reject the one received bid for Bid #2742 and direct staff to rebid the requirement.
