Subject: Appointment of Redevelopment Agency Executive Director for Matters Concerning the RAND Corporation

Recommended Action

It is recommended that the Redevelopment Agency (Agency) designate P. Lamont Ewell, City Manager, as Executive Director of the Agency for transactions related to the RAND Corporation.

Executive Summary & Discussion

At its meeting on April 4, 2000, the Agency appointed Gordon R. Anderson, Assistant City Manager, as Executive Director of the Agency for matters related to the Rand Corporation. This appointment was made to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest that former City Manager Susan McCarthy had due to immediate family members employed by RAND. The current City Manager does not have any interest that may be viewed as a conflict.

Budget/Financial Impact

There are no budget or financial impacts as a result of this action.
