Activity Permits

To maximize water safety and
assist the Los Angeles County Lifeguards in
determining proper staffing levels for each of the
lifeguard towers, the City requires Beach/Water Activity Permits for groups
coming to Santa Monica State Beach if ANY of the
children (17 years and younger) in the group will be
entering the ocean.
Permits are free and issued
for Monday through Friday only. They are site-
and time-specific. Permits are not valid on
weekends and holidays. If necessary,
Lifeguards are authorized to relocate groups.
