Every
student who participates will receive a
non-expiring $1.00 coupon good at any of
the four Santa Monica Farmers Markets. |
Take your class to the Wednesday Santa
Monica Farmers Market where students have fun
tasting and learning. Topics addressed include:
,Where does our food come from?
,What is a locavore?
,Learning to eat seasonally
(samples included).

The Santa Monica
Farmers Markets offer fun and
educational activities. Bring the
Farmers’ Market to your classroom or
after school program with A Taste of
the Farmers’ Market or a
No-Cook-Cooking Class! Students
will learn about Farmers’ Markets and
the importance of locally grown food
while smelling, touching, seeing, and
tasting both the common and uncommon
seasonal fruits and vegetables, from
apriums to zucchini blossoms.

Library Programs |

After school snacks
are no longer just soda and potato
chips, and healthy food is more than
alfalfa sprouts. No Cook Cooking
classes teach students how to cook
delicious and nutritious snacks using
fresh ingredients from the Farmers’
Markets without an oven or stove. While
learning about nutrition and locally
grown produce, students will prepare a
tasty snack that is simple enough to
make again on their own or with their
family.
,Iron Chef Challenge: Turn your
No Cook Cooking Class into an Iron Chef
Challenge! Each class features a
Farmers Market secret ingredient and
teams work together to impress the
judges with their no- cook creations.

Library Panel Series |
The
Santa Monica Farmers Markets in
collaboration with the Santa Monica Main
Library host a quarterly discussion
panels. Past topics have included
home gardening, farmland conservation,
ecology, and sustainability. Each
panel features farmers from the Santa
Monica Farmers Markets as well as local
chefs and authors.

technical expertise based on the Master
Gardener Volunteer Training Program
which provides intense gardening
training emphasizing organic gardening
and covers vegetables, fruits, flowers,
shrubs, trees, soils, composting, pests
and harvesting.
The Master Gardeners of Los Angeles
visit the Pico Farmers
Market on the third Saturday of each month
