Youth must reside in Santa Monica or attend a Santa Monica public school on

based programs that occur during the school year by providing us with a copy of
SMMUSD Inter-District Permit.
2.
Participants must be under age 18 at the beginning of the program.
3. Custodial
parents or legal guardians must be employed for a minimum of 32 hours per week,
or attending school full time with a course load of 12 or more semester units or
9 or more quarter units, or be in the process of seeking employment
(documentation of employment status is required).
Exemptions from the employment and school requirement are:
a) Parents with
children under the age of five,
b) Parents or
guardians sixty years of age or older,
c) Parents or
guardians with a disability which temporarily or permanently prevents them from
working, with proper documentation.
Note: Income and family size guidelines still apply.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. All recipients of financial assistance must meet the stipulated
eligibility criteria. We are unable to make exceptions for hardships or
emergency situations. Staff will provide referrals to supportive services for
families in crisis.
2. Space in
programs is limited and determined based on overall enrollment and financial
assistance levels granted. Poor program attendance may disqualify recipients
from the program or from receiving financial assistance for participation in
future programs.
3. Families
who have previously received financial assistance will be required to reapply
for financial assistance annually beginning each April.
4.
To appeal a denied financial assistance application, submit a written request to
the Financial Assistance Appeals Committee. The Financial Assistance Appeals
Committee will review written appeals and parents/guardians will be notified of
the Committee’s decision within 3 business days.
