Coastal Cleanup Day
Over 1550
volunteers came out to five beach locations
in Santa Monica as part of the 25th annual
observance of International Coastal Cleanup
Day on Saturday, September 19. We are
thankful to our volunteers and to beach
captains who helped coordinate the efforts
at each of our sites. Together our
volunteers collected over 828 pounds of
trash and over 268 pounds of recyclables.
Volunteers at tower number 27, by Ocean Park
Blvd tallied 1700 cigarette butts among
their trash! The pier location by lifeguard
tower tower 1550 had over 600 volunteers
pitch in.
