The Santa Monica Public Library will host a free, three-part reading and discussion series for teens called “Comix.@$#!.”  The series explores a wide variety of graphic novels, from traditional comics to Japanese manga.  Graphic novels are book-length illustrated stories that are often original publications but may also be collections of previously published comic strips.  Each discussion will focus on a theme and will include discussion of the art as well as the text.

All discussions will be held at the Montana Avenue Branch, 1704 Montana Avenue, Santa Monica.  Meetings are on Saturdays at 3 p.m. on March 5, March 19, and April 9. Registration for the series is required, and copies of the books will be provided upon signup.  Please call (310) 458-8976 to register.

Comix.@$#! is the first discussion program for teens developed by the California Center for the Book in conjunction with the California Library Association. The California Center for the Book is supported by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.
