TEMPORARY MAIN LIBRARY CLOSES DECEMBER 5

Santa Monica Public Library's Temporary Library, 1324 Fifth Street, will close to the public beginning Monday, December 5, in order to move materials and staff to the new Main Library.

The Temporary Library has served the downtown area during the construction of the new 104,000 square foot Main Library by Moore Ruble Yudell Architects and Planners. The new Main Library, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard, celebrates its grand opening on Saturday, January 7, 2006 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

During the move to the new Main Library, service is available at these branches:

• Montana Avenue Branch Library, 1704 Montana Avenue (310) 829-7081.

• Fairview Branch Library, 2101 Ocean Park Boulevard (310) 450-0443.

• Ocean Park Branch Library, 2601 Main Street (310) 392-3804.

Branch library hours are: 12 noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Branch libraries are closed Friday and Sunday.

The Santa Monica Public Library’s website www.smpl.org  offers access to the online catalog, library account information, on-line databases, e-mail reference, and AskNow, an interactive reference service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
