There’s lots going on at Montana Avenue Branch Library in August.  Join us in the community room at Montana Avenue Branch Library,  1704 Montana Avenue, for any or all of these great events:

Stitches from the Heart – Saturday, August 5, 12:30-2:30 p.m.
Knitting and crocheting club for people who want to provide handmade items for as many children as possible.  Bring your crochet hooks, needles and left over yarn: it’s time to knit or crochet hats, booties, blankets and sweaters.  Patterns and light instruction will be available on site.

Author Visit – Monday, August 7, 7:00 – 8:30p.m.
Local author and newspaperman George Garrigues knows how to write and tell great stories.  Come listen to a few of them on Monday evening.

Montana Avenue Branch Book Group – Wednesday, August 16, 7-8:30 p.m.
A monthly book discussion group, we like to read it all.  This month we will be analyzing and discussing The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference by Malcolm Gladwell

Food for Thought Discussions – Thursday, August 17, 7-8:30 p.m.
We are a monthly discussion group in partnership with the Santa Monica's Cooperative Natural Grocer.  We have covered everything from Exploring Aging to Socially Responsible Investing.  This month we will learn about The Psychology of Dieting with Terry Masi.

Southern California Curiosities – Saturday, August 19, 12:30-2:00p.m.
Humorist and veteran journalist Saul Rubin has traveled way off Southern California's beaten path for one-of-a-kind gems that make his home turf truly unique.  Whether you were born and raised in Southern California or are a recent transplant, Saul Rubin's home-grown humor will have you laughing out loud as he introduces you to the neighbors you never knew you had and takes you to places you never knew existed - right in your own backyard.
