SANTA MONICA
HOSTS DISCUSSION ON OLYMPIC AND PICO AS ONE-WAY STREETS |
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Would the conversion of Olympic and Pico Boulevards to one-way streets solve Westside traffic congestion? Concerns with Westside traffic continue to grow and Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has proposed establishing Olympic and Pico Boulevards as one-way paired streets between downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica. A study conducted by transportation planner Allyn Rifkin suggests that congestion will be reduced under this plan. On Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 6:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ken Edwards Center (1527 4th Street, Room 103), the City of Santa Monica’s Planning and Community Development Department will host an informative meeting with Mr. Rifkin, who will present an overview of his report. Following his presentation, meeting attendees will have the opportunity to share their comments, concerns and suggestions and to ask questions. If you need disability-related accommodations, please contact the Transportation Management Division at transportation.management@smgov.net or (310) 458-8298. The Ken Edwards Center is wheel chair accessible and served by the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus (lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9) and the Tide Ride; please call 310/451-5444 for additional transit information.
