Santa Monica, California The Santa Monica Public Library is pleased to present a Santa Monica Citywide Reads special event, Flavors of the Sea with the Too Hot Tamales, on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the Main Library’s outdoor North Entry Courtyard.

Border Grill chefs and proprietors, Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger, known worldwide as the Too Hot Tamales, have taken inspiration from this year’s Citywide Reads book selection, The Highest Tide, and its seaside community setting to put together a zesty and delicious seafood cooking demonstration.  On the menu for this special afternoon’s demonstration will be a shrimp ceviche teaser, seared calamari entrée and geoduck clam chowder.

Mary Sue and Susan will also chat with attendees and sell & sign copies of their timeless classic cookbooks, Cooking with Too Hot Tamales and Mesa Mexicana.

Admission is free.  Seating is limited, and on a first arrival basis.

For more information on this and other Citywide Reads events, as well as other Library programs, contact the Santa Monica Public Library at (310) 458-8600; or visit the Library’s web site at www.smpl.org.
