Date: April 15, 2008 Contact: Nancy Bender, Public Services Librarian, (310) 458-8922 Santa Monica Public Library presents Boho Baby Knits author Kat Coyle Santa Monica, California — Santa Monica Public Library presents "Embroider Your Boho Baby Knits" with Kat Coyle on Sunday, April 27, at 2:00 p.m. in the Main Library’s Community Room, 601 Santa Monica Blvd. Kat Coyle, author of Boho Baby Knits, will teach the basics of embroidering on knits with simple stitches like duplicate stitch, backstitch, French knot and the running stitch. It’s everything you’ll need to know to finish the projects in her book that use embroidery to make the pieces come to life. Participants should bring two 6” square stockinet swatches worked in worsted weight yarn, scissors, and tapestry needle. A book sale and signing will follow the workshop. Kat Coyle is a local hand knit designer whose work has been published in the books Knit Wit, Lace Style, and Greetings from Knit Café. Her designs have also been featured in the magazines Interweave Knits, Knitscene, and Knitty. She is the co-author of a kids’ card deck about storytelling called Once Upon a Time: Creative Writing Fun for Kids. This workshop is free; registration is required. Call (310) 458-8636 to register.
