The Ocean
Park Boulevard "Green Streets" project was
initiated in March 2008 at the request of the
Santa Monica community. The project aims
to examine the portion of Ocean Park Boulevard
west of Lincoln Blvd. to Neilson way, and to
develop solutions to issues based on scale,
character, health and safety, sustainability,
landscaping, accessibility and circulation.

The below map depicts the project area, which
includes over a half mile of vehicular right of
way, more than 6000 linear feet of sidewalks,
and involves pocket parks, two schools and the
4th Street overpass.

Two community workshops have been held to date,
and staff has presented the project to the City
Council, the Planning Commission, the Recreation
and Parks Commission, and the Architectural
Review Board. Please see the
REFERENCE page to download the staff
presentations.
The first community workshop was held on Monday,
March 3rd at the John Muir/SMASH auditorium in
the Ocean Park neighborhood. Over 60
participants turned out to voice their visions
for this important neighborhood street.

alternatives and to evaluate overlay options
such as a viewing deck from the 4th Street
bridge, and traffic circles along the boulevard.
