  1.  Statement of Official Action. Certificate of Appropriateness No. LC-2000-CA-001 to remove the "Rock N' Roll" and "Clown Around" rides at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier and to replace them with two new rides ("Chaos" and "Frog Hopper").

  2. Statement of Official Action. Consideration of Landmark Designation Application LC-00LM-002 to consider a Structure of Merit designation application for a residential building located at 2216 Main Street.

  3. Statement of Official Action. Consideration of Landmark Designation Application LC-00LM-003 for a structure located at 1443 15th Street (the Santa Monica Assistance League) to determine whether the application is appropriate for formal consideration.

  3. Certificate of Appropriateness No. LC-2000-CA-001 to allow a sign adjustment for the new (replacement) "Chaos" ride located in Pacific Park at the western end of the Pier. The new sign would be located in the center of the ride within a 96" round yellow disk. The words "Pacific Park" would be spelled out in red letters and would measure a total of approximately 21.33 square feet in size.

  4. Certificate of Appropriateness No. LC-CA-00-002, 2607 Third Street. Request to modify and rehabilitate an existing two story structure. Proposed work includes the following: removal of an exterior stairway; replacement of unreinforced brick foundation and unreinforced brick chimney; restoration of front port to original configuration; removal of avocado tree from front yard; addition of wood terrace at rear elevation; expansion of roof dormer on south side; minor alterations to exterior windows and doors. This house is a contributing structure in the Third Street Neighborhood Historic District

  5. Certificate of Appropriateness No. LC-CA-00-003, 2623 Third Street. Request to remove an existing rear staircase and approximately 100 square feet at the rear of the first floor and construct a 350 square foot, two story addition at the rear of the structure. This house is a contributing structure located within the Third Street Neighborhood Historic District.

AGENDA POLICIES



REQUESTS TO SPEAK on an item must be submitted on a speaker's request form and submitted to the Commission staff. All requests to address the Commission on agenda items must be submitted prior to the Commission's consideration of the item. Items not identified on the agenda as public input or as a public hearing item generally require approval of 2/3 of the Commission to allow public comment.



CONSENT CALENDAR items will be acted upon by the Commission at one time without discussion unless a Commissioner requests discussion on an item. If such a request is made, the item will be heard after the balance of the Consent Calendar has been voted upon.

PUBLIC HEARING PROCEDURES on each public hearing item include presentation of a staff report; Commission question of staff; a five minute presentation by the project applicant or application proponent, if any; Commission questions of the applicant or application proponent; three minutes each for each member of the public wishing to speak to the item; three minutes for project applicant or application proponent rebuttal; Commission deliberations and decision.



PRESENTATIONS BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC should begin with the speaker stating his or her name and address followed by a statement regarding the item under consideration. Please speak to the Commission as a whole.



Professionals appearing before the Commission should clearly identify their status, such as "attorney", "paralegal", "architect", "designer", or "landscape architect". Instances of misrepresentation of professional status may be referred to the City Attorney for possible prosecution.



LETTERS OR WRITTEN MATERIALS regarding agenda items may be submitted to the Commission staff prior to or at the meeting; written materials submitted at least eight days in advance of the meeting with be included in the Commission's meeting packet. Materials submitted after the deadline may be difficult for the Commission to adequately review.



ASSIGNING OF TIME for members of the public wishing to speak on an item is permissible within specified limits. A "representative speaker" may be allowed one additional minute of speaking time, to a maximum of five additional minutes (hence, eight minutes total) for each person actually in attendance who assigns his or her right to speak via a request to speak form to the "representative speaker."



ACTION BY THE LANDMARKS COMMISSION on most matters occurs with the affirmative votes of a least four Commissioners.



APPEALS of certain actions of the Commission are appealable to the City Council. For specific information on appeals, please contact the Commission staff.
