Information concerning future Landmarks Commission Agendas.  Update on recent Architectural Review Board, Planning Commission, and City Council actions, including development projects, planning policy studies, ordinances, and appeals.

A.      Statement of Official Action: Certificate of Appropriateness No. LC-CA-00-008, 555 7th Street, to re-roof an existing Landmark structure and replace an existing fence with a new redwood fence. 

 

B.      Statement of Official Action:  Certificate of Appropriateness No. LC-00CA-007 for a sign adjustment to install three new signs to an existing business located at 320 Santa Monica Pier.  The proposal includes a 58.5 square foot (double-sided) sign on the top of the building; a 5.3 square foot neon window sign, and a 7.2 square foot double-sided under-canopy sign

 

C.      Statement of Official Action:  Five single-family , non-contiguous residences located at 217 17th Street, 270 18th Street, 510 Lincoln Boulevard, 1707 San Vicente Boulevard, and 1717 San Vicente Boulevard.

 

D.     Statement of Official Action: Landmark Designation Application No. LM-00-      9  for a single-family residence located at 343 14th Street. The Landmarks Commission took no action on this application.

          A.   Structure of Merit Designation Application No. LC-00LM-010, 1507 19th Street.  Public hearing to consider a Structure of Merit Designation Application for a single family residence located at 1507 19th Street. The Landmarks Commission will determine, based on the application and research presented, whether the application is appropriate for formal consideration.  If the Commission determines that the application merits consideration, a public hearing on the application for Landmark Designation will be scheduled.

AGENDA POLICIES

 

REQUSTS TO SPEAK on an item must be submitted on a speaker’s request form and submitted to the Commission staff.  All requests to address the Commission on agenda  items must be submitted prior to the Commission’s consideration of the item. Items not identified on the agenda as public input or as a public hearing item generally require approval of 2/3 of the Commission to allow public comment.

 

CONSENT CALENDAR items will be acted upon by the Commission at one time without discussion unless a Commission requests discussion on an item.  If such a request is made, the item will be heard after the balance of the Consent Calendar has been voted upon.

 

PUBLIC HEARING PROCEDURES on each public hearing item include presentation of a staff report; Commission question of staff; a five minute presentation by the project applicant or application proponent, if any; Commission questions of the applicant or application proponent; three minutes each for each member of the public wishing to speak to the item; three minutes for project application or application proponent rebuttal; Commission deliberations and decision.

 

PRESENTATIONS BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC should begin with the speaker stating his or her name and address followed by a statement regarding the item under consideration.  Please speak to the Commission as a whole.

 

Professionals appearing before the Commission should clearly identify their status, such as “attorney,” paralegal,” “architect,” “designer,” or “landscape architect.”  Instances of misrepresentation of professional status may be referred to the City Attorney for possible prosecution.

 

LETTERS OR WRITTEN MATERIALS regarding agenda items may be submitted to the Commission staff prior to or at the meeting; written materials submitted at least eight days in advance of the meeting will be included in the Commission’s meeting packet.  Materials submitted after the deadline may be difficult for the Commission to adequately review.

 

ASSIGNING OF TIME for members of the public wishing to speak on an item is permissible within specified limits.  A “representative speaker” may be allowed one additional minute of speaking time, to a maximum of five additional minutes (hence, eight minutes total) for each persona actually in attendance who assigns his or her right to speak via a request to speak from to the “representative speaker.”

 

ACTION BY THE LANDMARKS COMMISSION on most matters occurs with the affirmative votes of at least four Commissioners.

 

APPEALS of certain actions of the Commission may be heard by the City Council.  For specific information on appeals, please contact the Commission staff.
