Public Parking in Santa Monica

Bayside District (Downtown Santa Monica)
The City of Santa Monica owns and operates six public parking structures which serve the Third Street Promenade and adjacent areas of downtown Santa Monica. The structures are open 24 hours daily. Between 8am and 6pm parking is free for the first two hours, then $.75 for each 30 minutes with a maximum fee of $7.00 per day. If entering between 6pm and 2am, visitors are charged a flat rate of $3.00

Parking meters throughout downtown Santa Monica allow parking for either two hours, one hour or 36 minutes. Some three and ten hour meters are available. Parking at all meters is $.50 per hour.

Parking Structures 1,3 and 5
These structures are located at 1234, 1320 and 1440 4th Street respectively (between Wilshire and Colorado).

Parking Structures 2,4, and 6
These structures are located at 1235, 1321 and 1431 2nd Street respectively.

Additional Downtown Parking
Metered parking is available along many streets in the Bayside District and in the City owned parking lots at 1125 3rd Street and in the two lots adjacent to the Main Library off of 6th and 7th Streets. Public parking is available at the Civic Center lot north of Pico Boulevard between 4th and Main Streets. Parking is available for a flat rate of $6.60 per day.

Main Street Shopping District
Metered parking is available in the five lots off of Neilson Way, just west of Main Street. The parking rates are $.50 per hour.

Public Libraries
Metered parking is available at all of Santa Monica’s public libraries. In addition to the Main Library lots off of Santa Monica Boulevard between 6th and 7th Streets, a limited number of spaces are available at the Fairview, Montana and Ocean Park library branches.

Public Parks
Free parking is available at Memorial Park (14th Street north of Olympic), Virginia Park (Virginia Street west of Cloverfield), Marine Park (Marine Street west of 16th) and Clover Park (Ocean Park Boulevard east of 25th).

Other Public Parking
Additional metered parking lots are located at 1217 Euclid Street, 16th Street between Wilshire and California and 1211 14th Street.

Parking Permits
The City of Santa Monica sells a limited number of parking permits for the six downtown parking structures and the City-owned metered parking lots. Many locations currently have waiting lists.

Information on downtown parking structure permits is available from Standard Parking at 1444 4th Street (310/576-4743). Permits each cost $82.50 per month

Information on City-owned metered parking lots is available from the Transportation Management Division in Room 115 of City Hall, 1685 Main Street (310/458-8291). Permits each cost $55 per month.

Santa Monica Beach and Pier Parking
The City of Santa Monica owns and operates fifteen beach parking lots and one additional parking lot located on the Santa Monica Pier.

Santa Monica Pier
This parking lot is located on the Santa Monica Pier and is accessed directly from Colorado Avenue. The lot is open seven days a week from 7:30am - 1:30am. During the summer months (May-September) parking is $7 all day, during April and October parking is $5 all day and during the winter months (November-March) parking is $3 all day.

Beach Parking Permits
The following permits are available for use in the beach parking lots listed above (not including the Santa Monica Pier parking lot) and may be purchased from the parking booth at 1550 Pacific Coast Highway:
Monthly Daytime Parking Permit $22 per month Any California resident may purchase.
Annual Daytime Parking Permit $121 per year Any California resident may purchase.
Senior Lifetime Parking Pass $2 Any California resident over age 62 may purchase.
Resident Overnight Parking Permit $11 per month Santa Monica residents living in the Coastal Zone.
