REGISTRATION FOR CREST PROGRAMS AND YOUTH SPORTSThe crest logo

The CREST Program is a partnership between the City of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, offering a broad spectrum of before- and after-school activities for youth in grades K – 8.

Fees are listed per child, per activity. Proof of full-time enrollment in CREST childcare must be submitted with registration in order to receive the discounted rate (not applicable to financial assistance). Financial assistance for all CREST programs is available on a sliding scale to qualifying low- to moderate-income families. Extended care from 7–8:30 a.m. and 5–6 p.m. is available for an additional $35 per week.

CREST will keep your elementary and middle-schoolers active and engaged over the winter season! Join us during winter break for Camp Santa Monica and Santa Monica Sports Experience (ages 8-14). Following the break, our popular and exciting basketball leagues and clubs and enrichment classes will begin January 7 for grades K–8. CREST’s Childcare Program for 4th and 5th graders and Playground Access (free, supervised after-school playground time) for 1st–5th graders will continue at public elementary schools.

WINTER BREAK DAY CAMPS (GRADES 8 –14)
December 26–January 4, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
(No camp on December 24, 25, 31 or January 1)

CAMP SANTA MONICA
Nourish the mind and exercise the body with six fun-filled days of games, field trips, educational enrichment, special events and camp activities! Held at Virginia Avenue Park, 2200 Virginia Avenue.

SANTA MONICA SPORTS EXPERIENCE
The healthy alternative to holiday overindulgence! Kids will have fun and stay active with eight days of sports, games, field trips and enrichment activities! Held at John Adams Middle School, 2425 16th Street.

Fee of $204 for the two week camps includes supplies, field trip admissions and transportation, a daily afternoon snack, and a cool camp t-shirt. Extended care is available from 7–8:30 a.m. and 5–6 p.m. for an additional $35 per week. Camp is available on a daily basis for $60.

CHILDCARE PROGRAM (GRADES 4 – 5)
Available at all Santa Monica public elementary schools, CREST’s innovative childcare program provides a creative and caring environment to foster learning while offering opportunities for play. CREST’s highly trained and experienced staff balance homework time (with help available, if needed) with arts and science enrichment activities, supervised recreation, special events and more! Childcare is available from 7 a.m. to the start of school and following school dismissal until 6 p.m. Several full- and part-time plans (including winter and spring break camps) are offered to meet your needs. Childcare for grades K–3 may be arranged by contacting the SMMUSD Child Development Services office at (310) 399-5865.

ENRICHMENT CLASSES (GRADES K-8) Winter session begins January 7
High quality enrichment classes right at your child’s school site! Enhance his or her regular school day with professional instruction in before or after school dance, digital arts, drawing, foreign language, yoga, karate and self defense classes. Participation is open to all K–8 students residing in Santa Monica or attending a Santa Monica public school. Children meeting age requirements may attend classes at the school site of their choice.
Registration begins December 5 for Santa Monica residents and December 12 for all.
Program fees: $90 per class / $80 with CREST Childcare*

 

 
PLAYGROUND ACCESS (GRADES 1 – 5)
This program offers supervised, unstructured playground time for up to 2 hours and 15 minutes after school dismissal for 1st through 5th graders. While no fee is required, your child must be enrolled in Playground Access to participate.

YOUTH SPORTS (GRADE K-8)

JANUARY 7 – MARCH 11
The winter season is all about basketball! Participants in grades K–2 will learn rules and fundamentals in a club format (no games). Participants in grades 3–8 will improve their skills in a safe and fun environment that emphasizes good sportsmanship and teamwork while meeting new friends during twice-weekly practices in preparation for weekly games.

Sports programs are available at Edison Language Academy; Franklin, Grant, John Muir, McKinley, Roosevelt and Will Rogers elementary schools; John Adams and Lincoln middle schools; and SMASH Alternative School.

SUPERSTARS BASKETBALL CLUB (GRADE K)
Designed for the beginner, this program will teach boys and girls the basic skills and rules of basketball. Instruction only, no games. Mondays, school dismissal–3 p.m.

ROOKIES BASKETBALL CLUB (GRADES 1& 2)
Participants will learn basketball fundamentals and the skills needed to play the game through scrimmages and game situations. Practices only. Mondays, 3:15–4:15 p.m.

BASKETBALL LEAGUES (GRADES 3 - 8)
This traditional and extremely enjoyable sports league program for girls and boys highlights skill development, active participation (everybody plays!) and, most of all, sportsmanship, sportsmanship, sportsmanship! Two action-packed practices are held each week plus a weekly Saturday game to bring it all together. (There are no playoffs.) New! Championship games will be played this year for Grades 6–8.

3rd & 4th grades Tues./Thurs. School dismissal to 4:30 p.m.
5th grade Wed./Fri. School dismissal to 4:30 p.m.
6th grade Tues./Thurs. 3:15–4:45 p.m.
7th & 8th grades Wed./Fri. 3:15–4:45 p.m.
(Days/times subject to change based on enrollment.)

Register early! Basketball season always fills up quickly. Registration begins October 17 and continues until programs are full. PLAYGROUND PARTNERSHIP

Playground PartnershipPlayground Partnership, sponsored by the City of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica-Malibu School District, provides school-aged youth, their friends and families unsupervised use of elementary school playgrounds on weekends this winter. The facilities are available to youth 18 and under, with priority given to children 12 and under. Community youth sports programs with permits may also use the school fields for their games on Saturdays.
